The Working of God’s Love in Our Lives

Love is God’s ultimate vision for mankind. It is His desired answer to every question, and His pre-assigned solution to every problem. This love is the foundation of life itself and the very essence of humanity. It is the purpose of divine destiny, the source of cogent and efficient interaction, and the adhesive to the unbreakable bond of perfection. Love was God’s motivation for creating the earth and everything in it; Love is the divine purpose God established for man; Love is the essence of man; and Love is the goal, climax, and destiny of man. To put it even more simply, Love is what God created man for, Love is who God created man to be, and Love is God’s destination for man. Therefore, man cannot fully understand himself or maximise his true potential or accomplish his God ordained destiny until he understands and appropriate the importance of the purpose and power of God’s Love.

Comprehending this truth can prove challenging, nevertheless, it does not distort the authenticity of this great mystery. The sad truth is we live in a world were the real meaning, purpose and power of God’s Love has been watered down to a point of little or no effect, even within the body of Christ. In fact, many Christians have trivialized the essence and the life changing, yoke destroying healing power of God’s love into mere head knowledge. What this means is that, in theory, many Christians believe that God loves them, (some even quote scriptures and witness to others about God’s love), but in reality, out of these, the actual ratio of those who have a personal revelation, or who experience and exhibit an every-day awareness and demonstration of God’s love is staggeringly low. Worst still, this number is declining by the day. This truth is neither surprising nor uncommon, due to the various day-to-day challenges and trials, struggles, insecurities, mistakes, disappointments and unfulfilled expectations common to man. Many of these challenges are the result of the enemy’s attack, which succeeds in its goal to contaminate the faith of many believers, evident in their struggle to accept that God loves them. The devil reminds them of their sinful past, or they misinterpret the Holy Spirit’s conviction of sin for condemnation, so they contemplate their sinful past to which they themselves are ashamed, and through their own self condemnation and subsequent self-judgement they conclude their sinful past is far too great and dire for God to forgive them and thus, they accept the lie of the devil that they are no longer worthy of God’s love. Consequently, the devil uses this as a chain to bind them in the bondage of guilt and fear in order to cripple them till they can no longer withstand the pressure, so they either hide or run away from God, or they stop believing entirely. What many of them fail to realize is that the very solution they seek is rooted in the Love of God. God’s love is the undisputed quencher of guilt and fear. It is the mediator between your past and your present, and this Love is the hope & assurance of your future glorification. God’s love is more evident in our trials and tribulations because it humbles our heart to the patience of Christ, and fixates our attention to His omnipotence. This then enables the Holy Spirit to stir up the Love of God that has already been poured into our heart, so whilst in our weakness, we begin to experience the strength of his Love in the hope that is deposited in our heart.
